Future Leader Dogs |
||
Val and Mariah Gutteter visited the April 1st club meeting
with very special guests. Val has been a breeder for the
Leader Dog School for the Blind for the last ten years. Starting with her first
dog Hanna, 4 liters of 11 puppies each generated 8 graduates of the leader dog
school. Val's daughter Maraih has been very involved with the process and
according to Val, Mariah now does most of the work at the time of delivery.
After the retirement of Hannah, Val and Mariah have accepted
Greta,. A German Sheppard that has recently had her second set of pups. The two
recent pups were a great hit at the meeting. Big hopes for their future jobs
will be assessed as Val needs to deliver them to the Leader Dog School April
10th. If they pass their examination and assessment, they will be placed with a
family to socialize them for the next year. After their return the next time
they will be ready for their career as a leader dog.
