Lions Clubs International Foundation
the only Lions Foundation serving the world community . . .
Dear Lions:
I’m sure you are proud to be a Lion. You know how much Lions clubs do
for their communities. Well, one of the goals of my monthly e-mail
messages is to let Lions know how much they are doing for the world
community through LCIF. Here is what’s new with LCIF.
A New Tradition
LCIF is encouraging a new tradition: honoring outgoing club presidents
with a Melvin Jones Fellowship. An MJF is a perfect way to recognize
the service of a club president or other officers. Click here to learn
more.

As with other tragedies, Lions are reaching across borders to help

Information on 100% DG Award
Lions Clubs International reminds District Governors that LCI gladly
recognizes their exemplary service with the 100% District Governor
Award. The requirements for the award are contained in the last
chapter of the District Governor’s Manual. The application is due at
the International Office by Sept. 30, 2002. LCIF reminds District
Governors that they must achieve one of three LCIF-related
requirements to earn the award (in addition to LCI-related
requirements): a US$100 average donation per club was made to LCIF
during 2001-2002, 15 percent of the members in the district became
Contributing Members or three additional Melvin Jones Fellows were
obtained by the district.
Come Cruise with LCIF
The 3rd Annual LCIF Cruise sets sail Nov. 3. Enjoy the warm sun and
waters of the Western Caribbean while supporting LCIF. To learn more,

Doing a World of Good
Did you know SightFirst brings vision to people in countries ranging
from Argentina to Zimbabwe and is fighting blindness in multiple ways
such as through cataract surgeries, control of river blindness and
upgrading hospitals? The full list of SightFirst grants is available
by clicking here.
