District
Governor Tom Rondeau and wife Esther visited with Ashland Lions Club members on
May 21. The District Governor
brought a message of appreciation for all the hard work the Ashland Lions have
put forth. A discussion about the Lions Camp and projects of the Wisconsin Lions
Foundation were well received by club members. He stressed membership and the
importance of a good orientation to make new members feel welcome.
In response to questions about children’s
vision screening, Lion Esther Rondeau encouraged the club to become involved in
this worth while effort. She described the steps used to look for vision
problems in children ages 4-6. Lion Nancy Tobisch,
chairman of the children vision screening for the Ashland club, met with
Esther after the regular meeting.
Questions about Mission to Mexico brought
extensive discussion about the seven trips that the Rondeau’s have been on.
The joy of the recipients of the used eyeglasses was evident in the description
of the trip. District Governor Tom encouraged all lions to make it a goal to
eventually go on one of these missions.
