Ever since Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become the "Knights of
the Blind" in 1922, Lions worldwide have fought to improve and restore
vision, eradicate preventable blindness, and provide research for education. As
the organization grew, many other needs were realized and the Lions have taken
on a wide range of projects. Over 1.4 million members strong in 190 countries
and territories, we embraced the motto "WE SERVE".
In 1983 the Ashland Lions was chartered as a member of Lions Clubs
International and have served Ashland and the surrounding area ever since.
We have grown to 28 members strong. A very active club, we annually donate to many state
and international projects as well as respond to local community needs. Helen
